Naturally Pacific Resort is a boutique hotel in Campbell River, BC scheduled to open in fall 2023. Situated at the Campbell River Golf Club, this unique destination offers spectacular views and access to some of the best outdoor experiences in the world. Located at the crossroads of forest, mountain and the Pacific Ocean, Naturally Pacific’s 93-room resort features dining options, a luxury spa and pool.

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the HR Department for the resort and its associated programs. The role will be responsible for the development and operations of the department, process and designing of all policies and procedures for the resort. The Human Resources Manager will be the go-to person for all employee-related issues and play an active role in the learning and development, they will provide support to all leaders and employees of the organization in areas but not limited to; HR legislation and policy, employee relations, performance management, compensation, recruitment and training. The ideal candidate will have experience in the hospitality industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the recruitment process for the company
  • Advise managers on interpretation and administration of HR policies, programs and procedures
  • Provide consultation to people managers regarding employee relations issues
  • Assist with processing of terminations
  • Investigate employee concerns and ensure follow through from beginning to end
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial legislation, regulations and standards
  • Support people managers with employee onboarding
  • Administer progressive disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures
  • Develop relationships with local community employment agencies
  • Research and identify best practices in compensation and benefits
  • Identify and address issues that affect the overall health of the company, morale, effectiveness, turnover, absenteeism and productivity
  • Provide training for supervisors and above for performance management, conflict resolution, discipline and terminations
  • Support employee engagement program initiatives
  • Design, facilitate and manage training programs for all soft and technical skills
  • Collaborate with management staff to assess employee training needs
  • Record and track completion of training programs organization-wide
  • Produce training materials for in-house training
  • Regularly audit onboarding tools to ensure effectiveness and positive experience for new hires
  • Lead the resort’s immigration program
  • Liaise with government and other external organizations regarding foreign recruitment
  • Build durable, sustainable, and flexible processes that produce positive and reliable results for an immigration program
  • Establish impact assessments and response strategies to new immigration policies
  • Liaise with immigration lawyers as required
  • Support current employees with work permit documentation requirements or permanent residency applications
  • Work with internal stakeholders to build an employee housing program
  • Create a settlement support network for employees new to the community

REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management or equivalent
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a HR Generalist role
  • Previous experience in the tourism & hospitality industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the LMIA and IRCC processes
  • Knowledge of current trends, principles and developments in the Human Resources field
  • Ability to interpret and apply provincial employment legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proven conflict resolution, negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate solutions
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and employees
  • Excellent in all MS Office suite of products
  • High level of personal integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet departmental targets
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
